Original oil painting by early 20th century British painter John Wiver depicts a serene, creekside landscape as a lone figure saunters down the dirt pathway away from the water. A painting very typical of a bygone romanticist sensibility once commonly found in European art, Wiver imbues this landscape with vivid trees and verdure, the sky above is emotive and dramatic. Signed by the artist in the bottom left hand corner of the painting and framed in gold.

Original oil painting depicts a landscape of large ruins, laden seaside against a clearing sky. Harkening back to European interest in the classical Greco-Roman forms, the ruins have been carefully rendered, overtaken by vegetation from years of abandonment. Unique framed artwork features two paintings back to back in the manner of early 20th century Belarusian painter Chaim Soutine. Soutine’s work and popularity exploded after World War II and was subject to frequent forgeries and copies, this double faced painting being an example as indicated by the misspelled “Souitine” signature. On one side of the framed canvas, this forger has depicted a watchtower utilizing technique reminiscent of Soutine’s lively brushstrokes. The opposite piece on the back depicts a Fauvist landscape of a pathway leading through a clearing of trees. These pieces are reversible and framed in a distressed gold.
