“The Last Meeting” by Fred Halpin takes inspiration from the famed EBD Julio original, “The Heroes of Chancellorsville” (1869). General Robert E. Lee and Lt. General Stonewall Jackson confer on horseback before Lee’s victory and consequent death at Chancellorsville in May 1863. This etching by Halpin is greatly detailed, with soldiers shrouded in shadows behind the two men on horseback. Marked artist proof and signed in pencil.
