About the Artist:
Gerald “Ira Diamond” Cassidy (1869-1924) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio as a self trained painter. After traveling to New Mexico due to ill health, he found a passion for great open spaces in which he dubbed the “solidified sea”. He took an interest in Native Americans and the land that they cultivated, creating inspired portraits and landscapes. He utilized the vibrant color and texture range of watercolor to bring these motifs to life. Regarded as a genius in his field, Cassidy was awarded and represented in various galleries and museums, even after his untimely passing.
