Born in 1616, Maitland was a Scottish politician, serving as an ally of King Charles II and eventually rising to become an important figure in the Cabal Ministry of councilors to the king in the late 1600s. Hand colored, this engraving of Maitland serves as a faithful historical depiction to the first Duke of Lauderdale. Housed in a stylish gold frame.
