Bronze sculpture by Dutch artist Loet Vanderveen (1921-2015) depicts an elegantly styled giraffe gracefully rearing its head to detail its full form. Vanderveen’s childhood home was close to a zoo, where he developed a love for animals and safari fantasies. Originally studying fashion after serving in World War II, Vanvderveen began mastering Chinese glazing techniques and forms before moving to California to create his sophisticated sculptures that remain widely collected to this day. Standing at 20-inches tall, this cast bronze sculpture exhibits a rich, natural patina and is signed and denoted as an artist proof, numbered 7/15, by the artist via etching on its underside.
This sculpture is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
