Bronze sculpture by Dutch artist Loet Vanderveen (1921-2015) depicts a cattle of the Ankole-Watusi breed in repose; the animal gracefully rearing its head to display its large, elegant horns. Vanderveen’s childhood home was close to a zoo, where he developed a love for animals and safari fantasies. Originally studying fashion after serving in World War II, Vanderveen began mastering Chinese glazing techniques and forms before moving to California to create his sophisticated animal sculptures. This cast bronze sculpture exhibits a rich, natural patina and is signed and numbered 85/500 by the artist via etching on its underside.
This sculpture is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
