Original oil on canvas by American artist Marilyn Yanke (1938-) depicts a landscape in a stunning array of orange and purple. Treating the landscape as if it were an abstract image, Yanke creates a gorgeous image that tows the line between the representational and the ethereal in a display that is sure to impress collectors of all backgrounds. Housed in a distressed gold frame and is signed by the artist in the lower right hand corner of the canvas and en verso on the back of the stretcher bars.

Unique framed artwork features two paintings back to back in the manner of early 20th century Belarusian painter Chaim Soutine. Soutine’s work and popularity exploded after World War II and was subject to frequent forgeries and copies, this double faced painting being an example as indicated by the misspelled “Souitine” signature. On one side of the framed canvas, this forger has depicted a watchtower utilizing technique reminiscent of Soutine’s lively brushstrokes. The opposite piece on the back depicts a Fauvist landscape of a pathway leading through a clearing of trees. These pieces are reversible and framed in a distressed gold.
