About the Manufacturer:
Irion Company Furniture Makers was founded in 1977 by fourth generation furniture maker Louis Irion whose father owned Berwyn Furniture Shop, established 1948. When Berwyn downsized and relocated to New Castle, Delaware, Irion decided to start his own path in Paoli, Pennsylvania. He set up living quarters above his woodworking shop, soon joining forces with old friend and woodworker Chris Arato. They sought to create the best 18th century style furniture, which resulted in a lot of antique restoration to finance their own creations. The company had many evolutions, and once they were established with their skill in restoration, they focused on creating their own designs. Their perspective was quality reproductions with an emphasis on wood quality. In struggling to find the kinds of quality lumber they desired, they began sourcing, organizing, and milling lumber themselves. Irion moved his lumber operation to northern Pennsylvania in 1997 to be closer to supply and to focus on family, entrusting the woodworking shop to experienced furniture makers. The furniture shop closed its doors in 2011, but Irion remains in the lumber business to this day, catering to specialty furniture makers.
