Dated vintage, this screenprint by American artist Hemia Calpini (1908-1988) purportedly depicts Li Qingzhao (1084-1155), a prominent poet and essayist during the Song Dynasty. Gracefully rendered in tones of gold and black, the elegant female figure holds a large bouquet of flowers, a colorful bird perched on her finger. Framed in ornate gold and black, this screenprint is unsigned by the artist, but was originally published circa the 1930s to the 1940s.

Original print by American artist Edward Nicholson (1901-1966) depicts a desert sunset overlooking Palm Springs, California; playful pastel tones providing a light and airy quality to the majestic landscape. Original woodblock print from Japanese printmaker Arai Yoshimune (1873-1945) depicts a small fishing boat gliding underneath a bridge at night. Shadowy figures pass overhead, the only light of the image coming from an open lantern at the bow of the sailor’s vessel and a far off light source on the shoreline. Associated with the “shin-hanga” arts movement, Yoshimune was commissioned by Hasegawa to contribute to a series of night scenes for tourists in the 1920s; where this print is sourced from. Housed in a gold frame, this original woodcut print is signed and titled by the artist at the bottom of the paper.
