About the Artist:
Kanayo Ede grew up in southeastern Nigeria. The son of a textile dealer, Ede grew up surrounded by the magic of color and texture. He earned his BFA at the University of Maiduguri, going on to teach as an art instructor for human drawing and landscape painting. He then worked as a designer and illustrator before moving to the United States to paint full time. He now has a studio in Atlanta, Georgia.

JAMES YOKO (1916-2004) “Man Playing Guitar” Original Mixed Media on Canvas
This original mixed media on canvas by Ohio regionalist artist James Yoko (1916-2004) depicts a simple composition of a man playing guitar, his silhouette composed of torn, collaged paper to create an active, abstracted landscape. A central figure within the Dayton, Ohio art scene, Yoko was a prolific artist throughout his lifetime and gifted over 700 paintings to the Dayton Art Institute upon his death in 2012, making his paintings now highly prized for their rarity. This painting is presented in a simple wood framing and has been signed and dated to 1993 by the artist on the back of the canvas.
