Print by American painter Douglas Arthur Teed (1860-1929) depicts a robed, bearded figure against a sunlit interior space, dramatic shadows playing off of the treasures that are strewn about the scene. This piece is heavily influenced by the movement of “Orientalism” that swept through the west in the early 19th century, which Teed had been exposed to while touring Europe. Framed in antiqued gold, this print is signed in plate by the artist along the bottom left corner of the image.
