This original, large scale oil on canvas painting by American artist Ronald D. Newman (1937-) depicts a seascape rendered in gorgeous, dreamlike colors, the teeming, swirling ocean giving way to mountainous landscapes in the background. A celebrated painter and printmaker, Newman attended the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio where he received a BFA in painting in 1961. He would later return to CCAD as an instructor before completing his MFA at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. This original painting is mounted on a 79-inch rounded canvas and is signed by the artist en verso.

A distinguished art and architecture historian at The Ohio State University, Fanning’s work drew on influences from the Post-Impressionist movement, and particularly on the work of Alice Schille.
