Newman (1937-) depicts a seascape rendered in gorgeous, dreamlike colors, the teeming, swirling ocean giving way to mountainous landscapes in the background. A celebrated painter and printmaker, Newman attended the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio where he received a BFA in painting in 1961. He would later return to CCAD as an instructor before completing his MFA at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
