Antique Japanese Bronze Elephant

Circa the late 1800s into the early 1900s, a heavily carved antique bronze Elephant sculpture. Meticulous detail can be seen throughout in the wrinkles, from the folds of the ears to the grooves in the nails. Velvet pads have been affixed to the bottom to protect surfaces from scratching. Wonderful antique Thomas Edison phonograph has a wooden case with locking lid, featuring a light finish and excellent woodworking details. A black metal pole slides into the mount to suspend the phonograph horn, attaching to the needle that latches down around the musical cylinders. The side crank winds the mechanism that is activated with the flick of a side switch. The cylinder turns against the needle, funneling the sound through the angled horn. JESSIE PRESTON “#7” Chamberstick in Bronze Circa 1905

#7 Chamberstick circa 1905 was crafted from bronze by metalworker Jessie Preston.  Jessie Preston was a woman metalsmith and designer in Chicago 1900-1918. Rare find as she had a limited production.  Jessie Preston was one of the first female graduates of the School of the Art Institute’s decorative design focus, quickly gaining recognition for her jewelry and metalsmithing. Signed with Anderson Foundry mark, Chicago 1905.
