Antique Vernis Martin Style Desk

$1,295.00
Dated antique, this fanciful little desk is crafted in a classic vernis Martin styling for a delightfully dated addition to the living space. Named after the Martin Brothers who pioneered its usage, vernis Martin is a type of japanning or imitation lacquer made from oil, copal, and Venetian turpentine and is meant to imitate the Chinese lacquer that acquired high favor in France during the 18th Century. This charming desk stands on curvaceous cabriole legs and features a drop front writing surface painted with a depiction of a lady on horseback, decorative acanthus leaf and ribbon relief details encircling her ornate portrait to resolve this dapper antique find. This desk is amongst hundreds of pieces of furniture that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
