LEE CSURI (1927-) “Pan” Carved Wood Sculpture
Original carved wood sculpture by American artist Shirley “Lee” Csuri (1927-) depicts a figural portrait of a satyr, most likely the Greek god Pan. An imposing figure, the bald goatman stands on a base of rocky earth, subtle leaf and flowering motifs at his hooved feet. Pan holds in his hands a long flute, with orange eyes looking away from the viewer, coyly inviting investigation. Delicately hand painted, this original sculpture is signed with Csuri’s initials along the rear of its base.
