Wonderful antique Thomas Edison phonograph has a wooden case with locking lid, featuring a light finish and excellent woodworking details. A black metal pole slides into the mount to suspend the phonograph horn, attaching to the needle that latches down around the musical cylinders. The side crank winds the mechanism that is activated with the flick of a side switch. The cylinder turns against the needle, funneling the sound through the angled horn. #7 Chamberstick circa 1905 was crafted from bronze by metalworker Jessie Preston.  Jessie Preston was a woman metalsmith and designer in Chicago 1900-1918. Rare find as she had a limited production.  Jessie Preston was one of the first female graduates of the School of the Art Institute’s decorative design focus, quickly gaining recognition for her jewelry and metalsmithing. Signed with Anderson Foundry mark, Chicago 1905.
