This original oil on board painting by British painter J.W. Perrin depicts a collection of highland cattle against a golden plane, soft clouds hovering over the cattle’s heads. Perrin was an artist that was active from 1884 to 1909 and was known to be a student at the Royal Academy, though little else is known about his life and career  Housed in a rustic wood frame, this original oil on board is signed and dated by the artist in the lower right corner of the board and is affixed en verso with a label that stresses this painting’s antiquity. Original oil on canvas painting by American artist John Semon (1852-1917) depicts a stream along a wooded area, two small figures traversing its banks. A painter based in Cleveland, Ohio, Semon’s work is largely associated with the 19th-century “Old Bohemian” movement that was common amongst local artists at the time. Influenced by the French Barbizon School, Semon specialized in atmospheric woodland interiors and later became teacher to a young Marsden Hartley (1877-1943). Framed in ornate gold, this original painting is unsigned by the artist, but denoted as being a work of Semon’s via writing on the reverse side of the canvas.
