An original landscape on canvas from Swedish artist Josefina Holmlund. Circa 1900, this painting represents some of the final years of her craft, in which she dedicated her life and work to the genre of landscape painting. Set at dusk, this painting of a meadow uses exceptional compositional balance, using diagonal separation of space, something often incorporated into her Nordic landscapes that featured bodies of water. An expertly crafted painting, Holmlund's use color works alongside the compositional formation, allowing the eye to travel in a zig-zag pattern, using blue hues opposite of each in their respective corner. Signed and dated in the lower left hand by the artist.
