$4,000.00
Signed Fayral, a pseudonym for Pierre Le Faguays, this bronze sculpture takes the form of a lithe dancer holding small symbols, her knee raised and body askew yet balanced in the midst of a dance. A verdigris finish highlights the details of the hair and drapery of the dancer’s dress. Signed Fayral on base.  About the Artist: Pierre Le Gafuays (1892-1962) was a French sculptor who also signed his works as Fayrel or Raymond Guerbe. He sculpted female figures, ceramics, and figurative lamps with Art Deco style. Born in Nantes, France, he studied at the Paris Salon and in Geneva, Switzerland. He was awarded the French Medal of Honor in 1927. He was a notable sculptor for his quality and attention to anatomical detail. Many of his sculptures were produced at the Le Verrier foundry, as Max Le Verrier was a lifelong friend after studying together in Geneva.
