A truly breathtaking antique example, this late 17th century Dutch wardrobe is solidly constructed from wood, featuring both burled and ebonized trimmings for a luxurious look. The oversized crown molded top is “supported” by applied carved column capitols, with carved flourishes located within panels beneath. The trimmed panels have delightful dimensionality and geometry. Oversized bun feet complete the look of the exterior. The dual doors open to a sizable interior with three wooden shelves. An impressively antique lock adds discrete character. The crafted walnut wood dresser is scalloped along the front with precision to the lines that allow for the nine spacious drawers to open seamlessly. Tarlow Antiques opened on the secluded and sun-dappled Melrose Place in Los Angles in 1976. For those lucky enough to find it, the shop was a sanctuary of impeccable antiques and eclectic pieces chosen from the most exclusive sources. Each item has a charm and textured story that seemed to flow from the proprietor herself.
