Dated to 1897, this antique calling card case from the Henry Charles Freeman Limited Company has a fanciful design and is decorated throughout with scrolling vine details; a portrait of a horse peeking out from a small vignette on the case’s front. This case was traditionally used to store calling cards (a practice common in 18th century Europe) and was meant to be carried in the waistcoat pocket of a gentleman’s jacket.
