This original oil on board painting by American painter Anne Harris (1961-) depicts an austere woman in repose, her hair tightly tied back as she rests her head in her hand. Likely a self-portrait made shortly after her graduation from Yale in 1988, Harris’ work has long been lauded for her depiction of female figures and of herself, a practice she continues presently as a faculty at the renowned School of the Art Institute of Chicago. This masterful painting is housed in a deep, compelling black frame and is unsigned by the artist, however, documentation of gallery purchase and provenance is provided.
