Circa the early to mid 1900s, this large sign was handcrafted with gold leaf lettering on glass for Montague Burton: The Tailor of Taste. Montague Burton was a tailor shop that grew in number in popularity, having around 300 shops at its height from 1900-1939. Suits were custom made to order per the customers specifications, requiring a deposit with the order and payment upon completion. A vintage sign from the now-defunct Manbeck Bread Store in Hagerstown, Maryland. Notable for being the first store to bake bread in Hagerstown on January 17, 1927. This sign depicts the portrait of a woman with ruby lips and jet black hair. Having apparently been used for target practice over the years, small bullet holes line several areas within the frame of the sign.
