ARAI YOSHIMUNE (1873-1945) Woodblock Print

$900.00
Original woodblock print from Japanese printmaker Arai Yoshimune (1873-1945) depicts a small fishing boat gliding underneath a bridge at night. Shadowy figures pass overhead, the only light of the image coming from an open lantern at the bow of the sailor’s vessel and a far off light source on the shoreline. Associated with the “shin-hanga” arts movement, Yoshimune was commissioned by Hasegawa to contribute to a series of night scenes for tourists in the 1920s; where this print is sourced from. Housed in a gold frame, this original woodcut print is signed and titled by the artist at the bottom of the paper.
