Antique Original Oil Painting of Cat and Kittens - Signed $795.00

ANTONIO DIEGO VOCI(1920–1985) Original Oil on Canvas – Signed

SOLD

An original oil painting from renowned Italian artist Antonio Diego Voci(1920-1985). In his portrait of a young woman with fruit, Voci utilizes symbols of hope and expansion. A white dove rises with flora in the right hand corner, as the woman, remarkably resembling his wife Helga Drössler Voci,  closely holds a basket of ripe fruit. Two enigmatic faces of women are placed behind, perhaps a statement on the generations passed and yet to come.

SALVADOR DALI “The Smoke of Irascibility” Wood Engraving from The Divine Comedy

$895.00 $716.00
“The Smoke of Irascibility” is inspired by Purgatory, Canto 16 from Dante’s Divine Comedy. Two female figures with forlorn expressions directly face the viewer, with a third figure shrouded in shadows to the right. The two distinguishable figures hold each other for support. This work has a muted, grey palette. Mat in white and framed in rustic black. Information on reverse.  This wood engraving print is taken from a collective book of Salvador Dali’s illustrations of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. Dali was commissioned by the Italian government in 1950  to create a complete work of these illustrations to commemorate the 700th anniversary of Dante’s birth. After much dispute amongst the government powers over Dali’s self-admitted questionable morality, the exhibition and commission were cancelled. Dali had already become obsessed with the concept, so he decided to work with French fine art publisher Joseph Forêt instead. In 1959, the limited edition books were published. In May of 1960, and exhibition of 100 original watercolors by Salvador Dali illustrated 12,000 verses from The Divine Comedy. About the Artist: Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was a surrealist painter best known for his melting clocks. Dali was born in Spain to a wealthy family who encouraged him to pursue art. He studied in Madrid and later relocated to France where he met Pablo Picasso. His painting's typically featured dream-like motifs as he believed that dreams and imagination should take precedence over marginal human thought. Salvador Dali is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th-century. This engraving is just one of hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! ROBERT MARTIN (1918-1998) Original Oil on Canvas “Construction Vehicles”

$495.00
Original oil on canvas by Ohio-based artist Robert Martin (1918-1998) depicts a worker amongst construction vehicles, a darkened sky formed overhead. An almost surrealist image, Martin’s loose, washy brushwork creates a scene that should be commonplace, yet somehow feels unsettling and in motion. A darker, earthy palette intermingles with the yellows and reds of the vehicles to create a truly modern piece of art. Housed in a white frame, this painting is signed by Martin in the lower right corner of the painting. About the Artist: Robert Martin (1918-1998) was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised by his grandmother. His grandmother, having grown up in the Victorian Era, is responsible for the period’s influence on his early works. Martin studied the painting from books of the masters, old and new. He worked from life, enjoying the process and interaction that was created. In the 1980s, he began working from photographs with his series of Victorian Village scenes. An ever-learning student, his work has distinctly different decades reflecting his progress and interests. Persisting was his use of oil on canvas, despite his training in other mediums. His poetic soul was evident in his philosophy as an artist.  This painting is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! After CHARLES M. RUSSELL(1864-1926) “Man with Rifle” Bronze Sculpture

SOLD
Cast from original molds by American artist Charles M. Russell (1864-1926), this bronze sculpture depicts a man holding a rifle that he steadies with the usage of a deadened tree stump. Typical of the wild western imagery that Russell exemplifies, a steer’s skull rests at the man’s feet. Russell’s cast signature is displayed at the base of the sculpture. About the Artist: Charles Marion Russell was born on March 19th, 1864 in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up with an avid fascination of the ‘wild west’ in his early years, eventually becoming a sheep rancher in Montana. Starting off as a cowboy, Russell began to document the winter of 1886-1887 in watercolors, which launched his career as an artist. His wife, Nancy, is often credited in helping him attain international acclaim as an artist, setting up shows throughout the United States and abroad. Russell produced about 4000 works of art, including oil and watercolor paintings, drawings and sculptures in wax, clay, plaster and other materials, some of which were also cast in bronze. He died in 1926 in the county seat of Great Falls, Montana. This sculpture is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview!
