Original signed etching by French pastoralist painter Charles-Émile Jacque (1813-1894) depicts a shepherdess among her sheep while a child watches intently from the open doorway. A member of the Barbizon school of painters with Jean-François Millet, Jacque’s work deals heavily in capturing realism through art, as this etching exhibits. The scene depicted is not beautified by Jacque, rather he allows the scene to be romanticized by the viewer for its natural aesthetic and depiction of 18th century lifestyles. Framed in gold and signed in pencil by Jacque at the bottom of the etching, this piece is a great find for any pre-impressionist collector.
This etching is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
