Original lithograph by famed Spanish Painter Joan Miró (1893-1983) depicts an abstract rendering of one of Miró’s illustrations for a book of poetry by Spanish poet Rafael Alberti, Maravillas con Variaciones Acrósticas en el Jardín de Miró. Intended to be seen as a parallel creation between artist and poet, this lithograph is rendered in tones of simple color and heavy lithographic pencil marks. Framed in a sleek black, this print is plate signed by Miró for a truly historical piece to add to the art collection.
About the Artist:
Joan Miró was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist born in Barcelona in 1893. A famed member of the Surrealist movement, Miró’s work has been described as a sandbox for the subconscious mind, a re-creation of childlike rendering, and a manifestation of Catalan pride. Two museums dedicated to his work, the Fundació Joan Miró and the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró, were respectively established in his native city of Barcelona and his adoptive city of Palma before his death in 1983.
