JOHN JAMES AUDUBON (1785-1851) “American Crow, No. 32” Print
SOLD
Print by famed French-American naturalist, ornithologist, and artist John James Audubon (1785-1851) depicts a single American Crow perched on the branch of a walnut tree, black plumage standing out starkly against the neutral, unembellished background. Combining his interests in art and ornithology, Audubon set out to paint and describe every species of bird within America, eventually publishing his crowning achievement, The Birds of America, from 1827 to 1839; a work that included 453 life-sized paintings and remains popular to this day with birdwatchers and artists alike. This print is housed in a wooden frame with gold accents and stamped with Audubon’s publishing information along the bottom of the paper.
