An original oil painting from Spanish artist José Luis De Dios Martinez(1943-2010), known under the alias of José Luis “de” Dios. Circa 1960s, Viejo is presentative of Martinez’s, more expressionistic period, which depicted portraiture that looked into ideas of existentialism and the human condition. Always experimental in his rendering, the use of the drybrush creates a somber effect emphasizing the emotion depicted by the subject. Signed by the artist in the lower left hand.
