Late 18th Century Oil Painting of Diana The Huntress
SOLD
An original oil painting reinterpreting the Roman goddess of Hellenistic origin, Diana the Huntress. Circa the late 1800s, this neoclassical rendition depicts a more opulent idea, quite relaxed, decorated with fur, tiara, and corset of pearl detailing. A hound lies next to the subject, possibly an actual pet of whom commissioned this artwork originally. Standing at five feet, and housed in an ornate gold gilt frame, the presentation matches the splendor of the portrait.
