Michael Smiroldo was born in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was drawn to “off-beat” art at an early age age, which was further deepened with exposure to jazz. Smiroldo pairs lessons in light and pigment derived from artists such as Van Gogh, Lautrec, and Gaugin with lessons gleaned from watching live jazz performances his entire life. He celebrates this with bold colors and dynamic composition, creating energetic works.
