This ceramic piece by Mata Ortiz Pueblo potter Reynald Q. De Lopez features a shapely, rounded vessel that crowns in a small mouth, allowing it to accommodate small arrangements of florals. Glazed in black on black with subtle geometric detailing, a shaped head, feet, and tail emerge from the vessel to suggest a bulbous turtle figure, adding a unique sense of humor to this cultural find. Etched on the underside of the vessel with Lopez’s signature.
