S. JEROME UHL (1841-1916) Antique Oil Portrait of a Lady – Signed

Antique original oil painting by American artist Silas Jerome Uhl (1841-1916) depicts an Edwardian portrait of a woman clothed in a floral dress. Dated to September of 1899, this painting was the first sitting for a later portrait that was likely painted by Uhl as a gift to family members, as evidenced by Uhl signing the painting “by Uncle Jerome”. Eloquently painted, this original portrait is housed in a gold frame and signed with palette knife scratching by Uhl in the upper right hand side of the painting.
