SHARON STEVENS (1960-) Pottery Vessel

Original pottery vessel by Native American artist Sharon “Butterfly or Turquoise” Stevens (1960-) features a shapely vessel decorated with lizard and geometric motifs in black. A member of the Bear Clan, Stevens was inspired to take up pottery at the age of 15 by her grandmother and mother, both of whom taught her the fundamentals of hand making traditional pottery. A wonderful piece of authentic southwestern American art, this pottery is signed by Stevens on the underside of the vessel and denoted as being purchased from the Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico.
