Revered as central figures behind the American pottery revival that comprised part of the mid-century modern design movement, the Scheiers worked independently and collaboratively, producing award-winning work over a number of decades at their studio in Durham, New Hampshire. A central figure within the Dayton, Ohio art scene, Yoko was a prolific artist throughout his lifetime and gifted over 700 paintings to the Dayton Art Institute upon his death in 2012, making his paintings now highly prized for their rarity. This painting is housed in a simple, painted wood frame and has been signed and dated to 1982 in the lower right hand corner of the canvas by the artist, with additional signature, dating, and medium information en verso.
