Original watercolor by Columbus-based artist Emerson Burkhart (1905-1969) depicts a still life composition in earthy tones. Typically regarded as a portrait and landscape artist, Burkhart’s loose, washy brushstrokes give hint to the sway of more ethereal, abstract painting that was just beginning to take hold at the time this image was painted. Housed in a gold frame with hunter green matting, this vintage watercolor is signed by Burkhart and dated to 1944.
