About the Artist:
Andy Lakey (1959-2012) was born in Chatearoux, France, moving with his family to the United States in 1931. After personal and career struggles in his early life, Lakey turned to art in order to illustrate his experiences. He set out to create 2000 angel paintings using a bas relief technique to bring dimension to his work. Many of Lakey’s art shows were utilized to aid the blind, heavily donating to the charity Lighthouse For The Blind in New York City and catching the attention of news outlets like ABC, NBC, CNN, and Fox news. Due to his story of struggle and passion to make a difference, his work is seen in many private collections, including those of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Jimmy Carter, and more.
