An original oil painting framed signed, by late Canadian artist Thomas Harrison Robinson(1834-1888). A student of Cummins Art School, New York, Robinson would travel to Europe to study from the masters. Common subjects of Robinson was of horses and landscapes of farming life. Featuring a horse pulling a surrey, a brilliant addition of red ochre of the rider’s jacket, contrasts beautifully with the deep green which dominates the composition.

A former sale label remains above the hanging wire. Pietro Mera was Flemish, but spent most of his life painting in Italy. Both influences are evident in this masterful example.
