Original charcoal drawing on paper by American artist E.F. Hebner (1926-2010) depicts a seated female figure rendered in loose, gestural mark-making, the natural warm tone of the paper providing a tasteful backdrop for the viewer’s eye. Hebner, a revered staple of the Columbus academic art scene, showed in over 170 exhibitions in his career, and was instrumental in spearheading the creation of the Expanded Arts Program at The Ohio State University in the 1960s, an experimental course of study that brought multiple disciplines of art together into a cross-media learning laboratory. Framed in black with gold accents, this original drawing is unsigned by the artist. Appraisal on file.
