Dated vintage, this original mixed media on canvas by Ohio regionalist artist James Yoko (1916-2004) depicts a solitary female figure in an interior setting, collections of torn paper collage lingering in the background. A central figure within the Dayton, Ohio art scene, Yoko was a prolific artist throughout his lifetime and gifted over 700 paintings to the Dayton Art Institute upon his death in 2012, making his paintings now highly prized for their rarity. This painting is mounted on original stretcher bars and has been signed and dated to 1994 by the artist on the backside of the canvas.

Best remembered as a landscape painter, Davenport was born in Manhattan, but moved to Provence, France with her husband, William, where she would later be one of the few American artists to be selected for exhibition at the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Monte Carlo. Earning a Bachelor's of Science degree, Dougherty continued her education at The Ohio State University obtaining her Master's of Fine Arts. She has held solo exhibitions at The Ohio State University, College of Eastern Utah, LaGrange College, and is included in many private collections. Dougherty's work is held in twenty two corporate collections such as Columbus City Hall to National Art Service in Houston, Texas.
