Nelson is crafted from cast and acid etched glass and depicts a creature-like abstract form wrapping lanky tendrils around a second, tubular structure; the blackened glass being illuminated by cindering tones of glowing red. Nelson, a graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, draws inspiration from bizarre tools and everyday objects, his work juxtaposed by brooding dark comedy, epic fantasy, and a quest for depth in meaning.
