HENRI DE TOULOUSE-LAUTREC (1864-1901) “La Clownesse Assise” Numbered Lithograph

SOLD

This numbered lithograph from the estate of famed Post-Impressionist artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) depicts Mademoiselle Cha-u-ka-o, a dancer at the Nouveau Cirque and the Moulin Rouge, in costume while resting on a bench in a relaxed pose: Lautrec catching a private moment against the publicity of a cabaret show. The most famous piece in Lautrec’s Elles portfolio, this black and white reproduction of “La Clownesse Assise” details Lautrec’s affinity for capturing empathy within the decadence and decline of modern society, in which brothels, cabarets, and prostitutes became a focal point for the young artist’s musings as his own health tapered downward. This large lithograph, ideal for serious art collectors, is framed in gold, and features Lautrec’s signature in plate. Stamped by the Lautrec Estate in Roman numerals as being numbered 30/275.

This lithograph is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
