This original woodblock print by Japanese contemporary artist Masao Ido (1945-) depicts an exquisitely detailed rendering of a traditional Zen garden: a minimalist dry landscape with natural elements of rock, gravel, sand, and wood. Masao’s work often combines old, traditional woodblock techniques with the depiction of stereotypical Japanese subjects, such as gardens, landmarks, and villages to great effect, leading to his successful career. Framed in wood, this original woodblock is signed and dated to 1975 by the artist along the bottom of the paper.
