Unique framed artwork features two paintings back to back in the manner of early 20th century Belarusian painter Chaim Soutine. Soutine’s work and popularity exploded after World War II and was subject to frequent forgeries and copies, this double faced painting being an example as indicated by the misspelled “Souitine” signature. On one side of the framed canvas, this forger has depicted a watchtower utilizing technique reminiscent of Soutine’s lively brushstrokes. The opposite piece on the back depicts a Fauvist landscape of a pathway leading through a clearing of trees. These pieces are reversible and framed in a distressed gold.

Original oil painting by early 20th century British painter John Wiver depicts a serene, creekside landscape as a lone figure saunters down the dirt pathway away from the water. Signed by the artist in the bottom left hand corner of the painting and framed in gold.
