This large original oil on canvas painting depicts the portrait of a woman playing a pipa, a traditional Chinese musical instrument that is plucked and is often referred to as the “Chinese Lute”. Dressed in gorgeous gold and blue fabrics, the soft female figure rests against an oriental background of warm yellow, her eyes averted from the viewer in a subtle display of grace and elegance. This painting is housed in an impressive, ornate black and gold framing and has been signed “Okamura” by the artist in the lower right hand corner of the canvas.
