This original oil on canvas painting by Israeli impressionist painter Zvi Raphael (1924-2005) depicts a highly expressionist scene of vendors perusing a flower market. A rabbi by profession, Raphael was educated in France and studied art at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and also at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, developing a hearty, impasto style that merged art with religious aspects and scenes of daily life. This original painting is housed in a distressed wood framing and is signed by the artist along the bottom of the canvas.
