11 Piece HEREND Rothschild Bird Cups and Saucers
SOLD
This 11-piece set of cups and saucers by Herend delivers Originally created in 1860 for the Rothschild family of Europe, this set’s fanciful patterning depicts beautifully rendered birds and colorful insects along gold-trimmed white china. Strands of pearls can be seen amongst the branches that the birds perch upon, referencing a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild, who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree!
