About the Artist:
Grace Huntley Pugh (1912-2010) attended Wellesley College and Barnard College, graduating in 1934 with her BA in History of Art and Architecture. She studied at a graduate level at National Academy of Design Art School, the Art Students League, and the Parsons School of Design. While in art school, she was an elite Powers fashion model, and modeled for renowned painter Leon Kroll, who was also her teacher and mentor. Kroll painted a mural for the Main Office of the Attorney General in the Department of Justice in Washington DC, memorializing her as a model within it. Her first job was artist-in-residence and art department head at Briarcliff Junior College in New York. She went on to be active in many artist associations and guilds.
