This original painting by American painter Roselle Davenport (1914-1997) depicts a wildly abstracted portrait of a woman dressed in a lace mantilla and green choker necklace. Best remembered as a landscape painter, Davenport was born in Manhattan, but moved to Provence, France with her husband, William, where she would later be one of the few American artists to be selected for exhibition at the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Monte Carlo. Framed in gold, this original painting is signed by the artist in the bottom right corner of the canvas.
