A vintage sculpture by Danish born artist, Gert Olsen(1937-). Informed by his skills in cabinetry and wood sculpture, Olsen developed an interest in stonework. Using natural textures and structures, Olden creates tangible stone carvings of nature and the human form, leaving the inherent colors intact. Now a resident of Florida, Olsen’s work can be seen collections internationally, from England, to Japan, and his native Denmark.

She now primarily sculpts, taking months to create charismatic details in her sculptures, skillfully and without a reference. Once the sculpture is completed, she sends them to a foundry in Vermont, where the piece is cast in bronze with great detail. A patina is skillfully applied before the piece is mounted to its base.

Amen, a gifted and multifaceted artist, began drawing at the age of four years old and led a varied career of exhibitions, commissions, and teaching appointments throughout his life, including posts at The University of Notre Dame and the Pratt Institute and murals in the United States and Belgium. Freestanding on a squared base, this original bronze displays a hearty, dark patina and is signed in the casting by the artist on the reverse side of the sculpture.
